Word Search Helps You Build Focus

Many of us have minds that are easily distracted. It could be another person, or something floating on the breeze and our attention is lost. Teachers want to keep us on task, focused on one thing at a time. There is no way you can complete a word search without focusing on the words. It is a great tool to help keep you on task.

What is Focus?

Focus is the ability of your brain to pay more attention to one stimuli while blocking out others at the same time. For example, when a basketball player is shooting a free throw, the opposing players, cheerleaders and fans yell at him or her to miss. The player has to FOCUS in order to block our those noises and concentrate on their task.

Concentrating most of your attention on one task enables you to complete that task faster and more correctly. A word search forces you to concentrates on the patterns and order of the letters in your words so you can become better at building them.

Some say that because the word search is so focused on building words it might not help in other areas, such as reading. The word search it is just one tool that a teacher will use to help students improve their skills.
